The Spirit Breaker is a craftable Hardmode, post-Plantera ranged weapon that uses Gel as ammunition. On use, it rapidly generates streams of spirit flames that travel a short distance before dissipating. The flames innate 15 armor penetration and pierce through multiple enemies but lose 15% damage for each enemy they pierce. The flames also inflict the Frostbite debuff and heal the player for 2 health upon dealing a critical strike, capped to 10 health per second.

Notes

  • This weapon only receives 10% of any firing speed bonus.
    • This means that it takes significant investment for the Spirit Breaker to actually increase in attack speed. Smaller firing speed bonuses will have no effect due to rounding.
  • It can be seen a sidegrade to Elf Melter, having a higher firerate and healing, but lower damage and range.
  • If the Show Donator Item Color configuration option is disabled, the Spirit Breaker will have a rarity of Rarity Level: 8 instead of the standard Rarity level: Donator.

History

  • 1.7.2.1:
    • Nerfed damage from 36 to 31, knockback from 4 to 2, and use time from 12 to 16.
    • Capped healing rate to 10 health per second.
    • Now only gains 10% benefit from increased firing speed boosts.
    • Buffed range from 28 to 30 blocks, armor penetration from 0 to 15, hit rate from 6 hits per second to 15 hits per second (using local immunity frames), and debuff duration from 1 to 10 seconds.
    • Changed debuff inflicted from Frostburn to Frostbite.
    • Added a 15% damage penalty to the next hit for each enemy a projectile pierces.
  • 1.6.5.5: Sprite updated.
  • 1.5.1.0: Introduced.
