The Corrodling Staff is a Hardmode, post-Plantera summon weapon that has a chance to be dropped by Dungeon Slimes after Plantera has been defeated. It spawns a Corrodling to aid you in battle by jumping on your enemies and inflicting the Corrosion debuff upon contact. Like other minions, summoned Corrodlings are invincible and follow the player for an unlimited amount of time, unless the player dies, summons a replacement minion, or cancels the buff.

Its best modifier is Ruthless. The Mythical modifier provides the widest array of stat bonuses, but these primarily affect the initial summon rather than the resulting minion. Additionally, Minions cannot deal critical hits. The only significant advantage a Mythical Corrodling Staff has over a Ruthless one is knockback.

Notes

  • If the Show Donator Item Color configuration option is disabled, the Corrodling Staff will have a rarity of Rarity Level: 8 instead of the standard Rarity level: Donator.

Tips

  • The Corrodling has the disadvantages of Slime Minion behavior, which is particularly weak against flying enemies, but is good at locking enemies in place.
  • The Corrodling is a good choice for the single minion a non-minion player uses, as the corrosion debuff is unaffected by minion damage boosts or lack thereof.
