Version history

Thorium Mod 1.7.0.0 is the first update using the 1.4+ versions of Terraria, serving as an intermediary update before beginning its full overhaul process; this patch ports the mod while adding support for new features like Master Mode, Journey Mode, the Bestiary, Town NPC happiness, and more. Additionally, the patch changes many items, from removals to visual overhauls and rebalancing.

Removals

  • Removed:
    • "Onyx" (and related items); Aquamarine now serves as its replacement.
    • "Pearl" (and most related items); kept items now use either vanilla Pearls or Aquamarine in their crafting recipes.
    • "Danger Shards" (and all related items).
    • "Magma Bars" (and most related items); kept items now use Hellstone Bars as a temporary replacement in their crafting recipes.
    • "Geode Axe", "Geode Hammer", "Geode Saber", "Geode Smasher", "Geode Spear", "Geode Boomerang", "Geode Longbow", "Geode Phaser", "Crystalline Charm".
    • "Berserker Shard" (and most related items).
    • "Harbinger Catalyst" (and most related items).

Balance

  • Rebalanced Fossil equipment to account for now being pre-boss in 1.4:
    • Nerfed Prehistoric Amber Staff damage from 18 to 12 and buffed Ptero minion attack speed from 1.5 per second to 2.
    • Nerfed Sitar damage from 19 to 18.
  • Rebalanced Mushymen Staff:
    • Buffed projectile speed by 50%.
    • Buffed detection range by 40%.
    • Reduced the duration of Acid Venom from 10–20 seconds to 5–10 seconds.
    • Minion spear no longer pierces.
  • Rebalanced Meteorite equipment to account for now being post-Eater of Worlds / Brain of Cthulhu in 1.4:
    • Buffed Meteorite Oboe damage from 16 to 19 and made astral clouds use local immunity frames.
    • Buffed Astro Helmet defense from 2 to 3.
  • Rebalanced thrown flails to match vanilla stats and behavior.
  • Rebalanced The Juggernaut base critical strike chance from 10% to 20% but reduced its swing damage from 60 to 50.
  • Rebalanced Chainsaws, Drills, and Jackhammers to dig faster than their non-mechanical counterparts, but have shorter range.
  • Rebalanced Wings according to vanilla changes.
  • Rebalanced Fishing Poles according to vanilla changes.
  • Rebalanced Deity's Trefork use time from 14 to 18, but increased aquatic shards damage from 10% to 50%, the origin point of the shards to the center of the target enemy, made it so the aquatic shards don't impede i-frames.
  • Rebalanced Reality Slasher damage from 200 to 170, but now the scythe attack and slash attacks don't impede i-frames.
  • Rebalanced Martyr's Chalice heal from 100 base + Bonus Healing to 45 base + (15 × Bonus Healing).
  • Rebalanced some boss health and defense values:
    • The Grand Thunder Bird:
      • Buffed health from 1500 / 2000 to 1500 / 2100 / 2677.
      • Buffed defense from 5 to 6.
    • Queen Jellyfish:
      • Buffed health from 4000 / 5500 to 4000 / 5600 / 7140.
      • Buffed defense from 5 to 6.
    • Viscount:
      • Nerfed health from 6000 / 8000 to 5000 / 7500 / 8925.
      • Buffed defense from 5 to 8.
    • Buried Champion and Granite Energy Storm:
      • Buffed health from 7000 / 9000 to 7000 / 9800 / 12495.
    • Borean Strider:
      • Buffed health from 10000 / 15000 to 12000 / 18000 / 22950.
      • Nerfed defense from 20 to 16.
      • Nerfed second form's defense from 10 to 8.
    • Fallen Beholder:
      • Nerfed health from 17500 / 25000 to 15000 / 24000 / 30600.
      • Buffed defense from 0 to 20.
    • Lich:
      • Buffed health from 25000 / 40000 to 28000 / 42000 / 53550.
      • Nerfed Lich defense from 60 to 50.
      • Buffed Unmasked Lich defense from 20 to 45.
  • Changed Empowerment - Movement Speed to only buff movement speed but increased the buff from 5% to 10% per level.
  • Buffed Support Spells by now being affected by healer speed bonuses.
  • Buffed Firestorm Boots speed from 35mph to 38mph and immunity to lava from 7 seconds to 10 seconds. Nerfed lava damage reduction from 80 to 35.
  • Buffed Cyan Phaseblade and Pink Phaseblade damage from 21 to 25.
  • Buffed Cyan Phasesaber and Pink Phasesaber damage from 41 to 42 and use time from 25 to 20.
  • Buffed The Javelin damage from 650 to 1750 and explosion radius from 6 to 20 blocks but reduced its use time from 30 to 38.
  • Buffed Wyrm Decimator damage from 200 to 220, hit-speed from once every 15 frames to once every 5 frames, and greatly increased its flame length.
  • Buffed Edge of Imagination damage from 125 to 175, and made it so the sound waves don't impede i-frames.
  • Buffed Promethean Staff attack damage from 50%/75%/100% to 75%/100%/200%, and attack frequency from 0.5sec/1.5sec/3sec to 0.25sec/1sec/3sec.
  • Buffed Lucky Rabbit's Foot by also increasing luck slightly.
  • Buffed Opal Staff knockback from 3.5 to 3.75.
  • Nerfed Almanac of Agony mana cost from 6 to 14.
  • Nerfed Devil's Claw damage from 375 to 325, mana cost from 3 to 5, and use time from 8 to 10.
  • Nerfed Omni-Bow damage from 165 to 140, bonus critical strike chance from 6 to 0, use time from 8 to 10, and arrow count from 4 (2 pierce, 2 single-hit) to 3 (2 pierce, 1 single-hit).
  • Nerfed Ember Staff damage from 250 to 150 and attack frequency from 4/sec to 3/sec, but doubled its shoot/hover range.
  • Nerfed Tooth of the Consumer use time from 20 to 21.
  • Nerfed Gardener's Sheath by removing the ability to teleport through tiles.
  • Nerfed Crystal Wave base movement speed increase from 20% to 4%.
  • Nerfed The Omega Core by changing base maximum movement speed overwrite of 150mph to a 3 time multiplier of current player's maximum movement speed and reduced acceleration increase.
  • Nerfed Opal Hook range slightly.
