One of the significant additions by the Thorium Mod is the new class added: the Healer class. As the name suggests, the Healer class aims at providing health to allies, and functions as a support role in a multiplayer setting. Only allied players can be healed, as NPCs do not receive the healing effect.

The Healer class is most useful when playing multiplayer, as the class's healing and support spell items focus on healing allies and do not deal damage to enemies (some exceptions include the Life Surge Staff and Holy Staff with the former dealing damage to enemies after successfully healing an ally and the latter being able to heal the casting player). However, it does feature its own damage type, radiant, which with radiant weapons can be used against enemies in single player (although some healing bonuses provided by dealing radiant damage will be redundant).

Additionally, in multiplayer, it doesn't require damaging a boss to obtain its Treasure Bag; healing themselves or allies near the boss will fulfill the drop condition. This way, the healer can fully focus on supporting their party members and still get their righteous rewards!

An Ally is another player that is on the same Team as the healer. An exception is if the healer is teamless, then they can heal anyone.

The Healer class is fully developed, with content spread throughout the game. This includes 12 armor sets, 39 accessories, 33 buffs and 145 items.

Mechanics

Additional Healing

Most healing sources heal for a base amount as stated in their tooltips. Several items provide additional healing power to the owner, allowing them to increase their healing output. Usually these bonuses to healing cannot be used on the casting player wielding the items, but with spells like the Holy Staff, Twinkle and Renew the player can receive these bonuses along with their allies. Being afflicted by Mana Sickness after drinking Mana Potions also afflicts the player with Out of Touch, negating bonus healing.

Radiant Damage

Along with the healer class's new healing abilities, a new damage type has been created specifically for them known as Radiant Damage. The primary way to increase radiant damage is through healer armors, but there exist ulterior ways to increase it as well (Glowing Potion, Dark Intent, etc.) Some of the weapons that utilize this damage type have effects that serve to recover the life of an ally or the player.

Soul Essence

Most Scythe weapons, upon directly damaging an enemy, provide some amount of Soul Essence, a method for recovering health and mana in the middle of a battle. The soul essence will be gained on each use of the scythe upon striking an enemy with the blade itself – hitting with any projectiles will not provide soul essence. Once 5 stacks of soul essence has been collected, the user will recover health and mana based on their additional healing. The amount of health restored is directly proportional to the user's bonus healing, and mana 3 times that.

Radiant Corruption

Certain equipment like the Dark Intent will "corrupt your radiant powers". While corrupted, the indicating tag on Healer items, alongside the effects from many radiant weapons, such as the Heavenly Cloud Scepter and Cosmic Flux Staff Yuma's Pendant.png, will change color from yellow to purple. In addition to this, corrupted radiant weapons will begin to inflict either the Light Curse or Shadowflame debuff, as well as increasing the damage the aforementioned debuffs deal by an additional 4 damage per second.

Auras

Auras are temporary rings of various sizes that surround the owner's cursor when activated. They apply beneficial effects to any allies within the Aura, but do not benefit the casting user. These auras do not have to be channeled, meaning the caster can summon an aura, then switch to an appropriate healing item to maximize team power. Right-clicking any aura casting spell will cancel the current aura.

Life Recovery

Life Recovery is a form of life regeneration that can be increased by various effects and items. Unlike normal life regeneration, however, it cannot be lowered or nullified by debuffs, such as Bleeding and On Fire!. Every second, the affected player will recover as much health as they have life recovery, regardless if they were recently hurt or have max life.

Heal Streak

Heal Streaks are a primarily informative feature that displays the amount of healing done by a healer over a certain amount of time. After three seconds of not contributing towards a heal streak, a large green number will appear above the players head displaying the total amount healed over the course of the streak and signifying its end. Currently, three actions will build up a healer's heal streak:

  • Healing Players: Directly healing an ally player or the caster themselves through healing spells such as The Good Book or Holy Staff.
  • Mitigating Damage: Reducing the damage allies take through items such as the Ancient Aegis.
  • Stealing Life: Stealing enemy life using radiant weapons such as Leech Bolt and Blood Transfusion.

Healing Effects

Healing done can also trigger certain effects on the healer's target or the caster itself. In certain instances, the target of a healing spell can be the casting player as well.
