The Giant Shell Spine is a Pre-Hardmode accessory that has a chance to be dropped by Giant Shellies. In worlds where Giant Shellies cannot spawn, the Giant Shell Spine is instead sold by the Skeleton Merchant.

When equipped, the player will slowly gain defense while they remain in combat, up to an additional 5 defense after 15 seconds of continual combat. Remaining in combat will maintain this bonus, and is removed after 5 seconds of not dealing damage to enemies.
