"The uncontrollable epicenter of the energy surge within the granite caverns. Stimulated by dispelling Skeletron's curse."

The Granite Energy Storm is a Pre-Hardmode boss that must be fought underground. It can be considered a biome-specific boss for the Granite Cave biome.

While the Granite Energy Storm is alive, its exclusive music Eye of the Storm will play.

Spawn

The Granite Energy Storm does not spawn on its own and must be summoned by the player by killing an Unstable Energy Anomaly, which spawns rarely in the Granite Caves after defeating Skeletron.

  • Killing the Unstable Energy Anomaly outside of the Granite Cave will spawn the boss normally.

Alternatively, the player may summon the boss with an Unstable Core while they are in the Granite Caves, the Unstable Core won't work if there is an Unstable Energy Anomaly nearby.

Behavior

When the Granite Energy Storm spawns, it will be circled by Coalesced Energy. These serve to block attacks from the player and influence the abilities of the primary core. Coalesced Energy will respawn after a set time.

Attacks

  • The Granite Energy Storm attacks the player by floating around and pausing before charging to the nearest player, though it will only perform this attack if it has direct contact of the player.
  • Once a Coalesced Energy is killed, it will become Encroaching Energy and home in on players, needing to be killed again.
  • After losing 25% life, the Core will begin shooting energy balls at them.
  • After being lowered to 35% life, the Coalesced Energy will start to spin rapidly, increasing the chance to block attacks.

In Expert Mode

  • If the core refreshes its Coalesced Energy, and some remain, they will be shot at nearby players for massive damage.
  • The energy ball attack will become rapid if no Coalesced Energy exist.
  • When below 50% life, it will start summoning Energy Conduits, which spawns an aura every second that inflicts the Granite Surge debuff.

Tips

  • Piercing weapons such as the Spine Breaker can make short work on the Coalesced Energy.
  • Light's Lament in particular makes dealing with the Coalesced Energy trivial, due to its splash and infinite pierce.
