The Zephyr's Grip is a Pre-Hardmode grappling hook that is obtained from the Treasure Bag of The Grand Thunder Bird in Expert Mode only.

It launches a single hook that reaches around 9 tiles' length at maximum. On use, should the hook be aimed in any direction above the player, a Hatchling will spawn at the hook's maximum distance. When the hook reaches the Hatchling, the player will latch onto the Hatchling and be flung in the hooked direction. For a short period after, the Hatchling will hold onto the player, granting slow fall; as with the buff, the ▲ Up key can be held to further reduce fall speed and gravity, and the ▼ Down key can be held to cancel the effects of the slow fall.

The duration which the Hatchling holds onto the player is based on the angle of the midair grapple; at a flat horizontal angle, the Hatchling will last 0.75 seconds, while at a direct vertical angle up, the Hatchling will only last 0.25 seconds. After being released, the grappling hook cannot summon any further Hatchlings until the player comes into contact with solid ground. Additionally, the midair grapple will not reset any additional jumps from effects such as the Cloud in a Bottle, or flight time from equipment like the Rocket Boots or Wings.

When aiming below the player, the Zephyr's Grip behaves like a normal grappling hook.
