Sword Sheaths
Sword Sheaths are offensive accessories that provide effects for swords. When equipped, the player will receive the Sheath buff every few seconds while they hold a sword. The counter for receiving the Sheath buff will reset upon swinging the sword without the Sheath buff, or changing to a non-sword item.
With the Sheath buff active, the next successful strike the player does to an enemy with their selected sword will critically strike to deal massive damage (with the exception of the Writhing Sheath). The base damage increase of the strike is dependent on the type of Sword Sheath equipped, but also increases by a further multiplier for each percentage of melee critical strike chance and melee speed bonuses the player has. Additionally, certain Sword Sheaths will provide additional effects when striking foes. Only the sword strike itself will gain additional damage from the Sword Sheath; any projectiles spawned by the sword will deal their normal damage.
The bonus damage of the Sword Sheath will apply for the full duration of the sword swing. If the swing hits multiple targets in a single attack, the damage dealt will be reduced by a fixed percentage on each consecutive hit. This stat for each Sword Sheath is listed as "Multihit penalty" in the following table.
Only one Sword Sheath may be equipped at a time; attempting to equip more than one will not allow the accessory to be set within the player's accessory slots.

Notes
- The effects of a Sword Sheath will only apply to swords that are swung overhead; weapons that visually resemble swords but do not follow the previous attack pattern (such as Shortswords, the Arkhalis, or the Lingering Will) cannot activate a Sword Sheath's effect. Consequently, tools such as pickaxes or hammers that are swung overhead can activate a Sword Sheath's effect.
- Additionally, swords that are swung overhead, but feature an aura slash effect, such as the Night's Edge or the True Excalibur, will not receive any effects from Sword Sheaths.
- The damage from a Sword Sheath strike will not be affected by the standard ±15% damage variance normal weapons have.
- The damage from a Sword Sheath strike is affected by the modifier of the weapon (damage, speed, critical strike chance).
- The Sword Sheath strike is always considered a critical hit, thus allowing it to activate related effects such as the Crietz.

- Sheath strikes will apply for the entire sword swing duration instead of just affecting the first enemy struck. Subsequent enemies struck in a swing will reduce the sheath strike's damage, similar to Whips. On-hit effects will only activate on the first hit.
