The Flame Trap is a trap found naturally in the Jungle Temple. When activated, it fires a jet of fire, which has a range of 20 (Nintendo 3DS version 47) tiles, and can pierce an infinite number of targets. It has a cooldown of (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 3.33 seconds / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 3 seconds between firings. The flame deals 80 / 160 / 240 damage to players (40 damage to NPCs, enemies, and critters).[1]

(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Flame Traps can be rotated 90° with a hammer.

(Old-gen console and 3DS versions) Unlike Lihzahrd Bricks, breaking Flame Traps does not require the Picksaw.

Notes

  • The Flame Trap can shoot through a single block directly in front of it.
  • Among all liquids, the Flame Trap can only function through lava. Its flame will stop premature to its maximum range if it makes contact with other liquids.
  • Though the Jungle Temple is littered with traps, this type is fairly rare. It is possible that a given map's temple only features a single Flame Trap, or even none.

History

  • Desktop 1.3.1:
    • Sprite updated, old sprite was Flame Trap (old).png
    • Can now be hammered to rotate 90 degrees at a time.
