The Damage Reduction Shield in the inventory.

Damage reduction (DR) is a player statistic that decreases the amount of damage taken from attacks.

In the player's inventory, a golden shield icon (above the silver shield indicating the player's defense) will display the total amount of DR the player has; hovering over it with the cursor will display additional information. This icon can be disabled with the Show Damage Reduction Shield configuration option, or moved with the Damage Reduction Shield Y Offset configuration option.

Dynamic cap

The Thorium Mod implements a dynamic cap for percentage-based damage reduction for the various sources of damage reduction provided throughout the mod.

Thorium equipment are subject to a hard maximum of 50% increased DR. This cap is then subtracted by the amount of bonus DR provided by vanilla and other mod sources. This cap reduction is capped itself to a minimum of 20% DR. Damage reduction boosts from both vanilla and other mod sources take priority over Thorium's and are unaffected by the dynamic cap.

Flat damage reduction boosts, such as the Amethyst Ring, are unaffected by the dynamic cap, and reduces the final damage dealt by a flat amount after all other calculations.
